No. 21. Hawaiian and Aloha Airlines: the only way to fly

A side road around the old airport area revealed two things: the old passenger terminals for Hawaiian and Aloha Airlines, resplendent with matching signage adorning its architecture. It was around 6pm, backlit, and even though I caught both I swore to return later to capture the perfect mid-morning shot. Two months - and the gorgeous letters on the top of the Aloha Airlines building were gone - my heart instantly dropped into my stomach. The story, according to an Aloha employee, was how a sign that stood for more than four decades was taken down a scant two days before my second arrival. I cringed at the thought that Hawaiian had also followed suit, but thankfully they had not.
