No. 24. The Kress Theatre is a destination in Hilo
that doesn't require use of a 4x4

The island of Hawaii, also known fondly to locals as the "Big Island," is reminiscent of many things: Country-style living. Untouched nature vividly contrasted by living, destructive volcanos. Black sand beaches. Jacked up 4x4's with big yellow "FBI" stickers on their back windows. The urban landscape as typified by metropolitan Honolulu is not what generally comes to mind, and yet, nestled within Historic Hilo, is the Kress Theatre, an Art Nouveau / Art Deco gem boasting gorgeous lettering accented with minimal neon. According to Honolulu Magazine, the theatre still shows movies for as little as 50 cents or a dollar, depending on the time of day.
